“One of the finest unpublicized folk artists I’ve heard in a really long time”
Hailing from Ohio, folk singer-songwriter Daniel Ryan has immersed himself in the soul-stirring genres of folk, blues and country. At the core of his musical identity, the acoustic guitar serves as Daniel’s primary instrument; his proficient playing switches seamlessly between fingerstyle and flatpicking, depending upon the emotional needs of the song. Daniel occasionally complements the guitar with his articulate harmonica playing. The real star of the show however is his powerful voice, which blends seamlessly with his instrumentals, creating a captivating experience for his audience.
Daniel Ryan was once dubbed “one of the finest unpublicized folk artists we’ve heard in a very long time” by Cincinnati-based Tracer Magazine upon the release of his first full length album of original compositions at the age of 23. In a performing career that stretches across nearly 2 decades, Ryan has performed at numerous folk festivals, opened for a grammy-winning bluegrass band and even sang the national anthem at a minor league baseball game!
This spring, Ryan will be ending his long drought of releasing original material with a new single titled “Flood of ’13.” True to his folk singer heart, the title track tells the story of the Great Flood of 1913 through the eyes of one of its victims.
In addition to writing, recording and performing, Daniel also teaches guitar lessons in rural Ohio where he lives with his wife and 3 daughters. Daniel Ryan’s greatest musical influences include Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Dave Van Ronk, John Denver and Woody Guthrie. Daniel Ryan is one half of the acoustic duo Ryan + Rose, bringing an appreciation for the music of the past to new audiences throughout the Cincinnati-Dayton region where the duo gigs frequently.
Through his timeless melodies and authentic spirit, Daniel Ryan embodies the essence of folk, touching the hearts of all who listen.
